چکیده

Environmental stress has a major influence on the growth and quality of medicinal plants. More than half agricultural land worldwide suffers from lack water. In this study, we estimated effect different irrigation intervals growth, yield, essential oil content as well their main compounds lemongrass, Cymbopogon citratus. The objective was to test how much consumption can be lowered without significant impact yield properties. Water deficit led decreases in characteristics including number tillers fresh dry herb yield. addition, relative leaf greenness decreased under water deficit, especially plants irrigated every 20 days. contrast, proline increased with increasing 15 Essential percentage also condition, highest observed However, per plant significantly due decreasing GC-MS analysis identified 31 compounds, mainly geranial neral. Geranial neral 10-day but severity at These results suggest that lemongrass sensitive drought. Nevertheless, represented by active substances improved prolonging intervals. This study recommends 10 days maintain small higher quality. it is recommended conduct more studies improve shortage conditions.

Modeling the growth of Staphylococcus aureus as affected by black zira (Bunium persicum) essential oil, temperature, pH and inoculum levels

Black zira (Bunium persicum) is a medicinal plant and spice, naturally grows in Iran. The aim of this study was to investigate the combined effects of different concentrations of Bunium persicum essential oil (EO; including 0, 0.08, 0.16 and 0.24%), three incubation temperatures (15, 25 and 35˚C), three levels of pH (5, 6 and 7 adjusted by hydrochloric acid), and three inoculu...

Seed yield and some physiological traits of safflower as affected by water deficit stress

Safflower (Carthamustinctorius L.) is an oilseed crop adapted to drought prone arid and semi-arid environments. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of water deficit stress on antioxidant activity, membrane stability index (MSI), leaf chlorophyll content, leaf area index (LAI) and their relationship with seed yield using 64 safflower genotypes grown under normal and water defici...

Productivity and water use efficiency of sweet sorghum as affected by soil water deficit occurring at different vegetative growth stages

The growth and production of sweet sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] crops under semi-arid conditions in the Mediterranean environment of southern Italy are constrained by water stress. The effects of temporary water stress on growth and productivity of sweet sorghum were studied during three seasons at Rutigliano (Bari, Italy). The aim of this research was to evaluate the sensitivity of ph...

Polylactic Acid—Lemongrass Essential Oil Nanocapsules with Antimicrobial Properties

Polylactic acid was combined with lemongrass essential oil (EO) to produce functional nanocapsules (NCs). The obtained polylactic acid nanoparticles showed antimicrobial activity both with and without the presence of lemongrass oil; however, the presence of EO improved the activity of the NCs. The presence of lemongrass assisted the formation of well-separated NCs and also provided enhanced ant...
